Duties & Responsibilities - include but not limited to the following:
Supports and emphasizes the importance of safety and environmental programs and ensure regulatory compliance
Coordinates activities with Vendors/Contractors
Prepares written reports in assigned area of responsibility
Recognizes problems and is proactive in helping to resolve them
Performs calculations in appropriate engineering discipline
Performs field inspections and takes field measurements
Ensures company resources are used in a cost effective manner
Analyzes technical performance of plant systems and equipment
Performs root cause analysis of system and equipment problems
Develops and evaluates alternative solutions to engineering problems, prepares studies/scope statements outlining alternative solutions, and recommends least cost solutions
Prepares system design descriptions and operating instructions as required
Prepares engineering technical standards, guidelines, and procedures
Responds to plant emergencies by providing specialized technical support
Requirements
A. Knowledge/Skills
Basic knowledge of power plant systems and operation consistent with level of responsibility
Detailed knowledge of power plant systems and equipment in appropriate engineering discipline
Ability to understand and interpret drawings and specifications
Knowledge of and ability to apply applicable industry and NRG standards and codes
Ability to use PC and associated software applications to collect and analyze data and produce spreadsheets, databases, and reportsand proficiency in MS Office Suite
Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts (verbal and written)
Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all individuals
Ability to perform as a team member or leader in a cross-functional team environment and achieve consensus decisions
Ability to perform inspections of power plant systems and equipment and take field measurements
Ability to support and maintain schedule on several concurrent assignments
Ability to perform standard calculations in appropriate engineering discipline
Basic understanding of the processes, systems, assets, resources, key personnel, and business functions of the company
Ability to read, create and follow written policies and procedures
Ability to read, write and understand English
Ability to perform economic analyses
Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving skills
Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations

B. Education/Experience
Minimum of a Baccalaureate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university
Experience in power plant engineering
Experience in equipment and system testing and troubleshooting

III. Working Conditions:
Normal office environment and/or out-of-doors work environment. (Including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures and high humidity areas at generating unit work locations)
Requires operation of a motor vehicle
Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect or collect data on plant equipment
Work overtime and non-standard hours as required
Requires some travel
Occasionally requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)
May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals
Requires operation of a personal computer
Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
